The European Life Settlement Association (ELSA), the leading advocacy group for life settlement investors, has announced the agenda for its upcoming Secondary Life Markets Conference 2024.
Held in Stockholm, Sweden, on Thursday 12th September, the agenda for this year’s event has been designed to cover the most pressing topics impacting both investors with exposure to the market and asset managers investing in the space.
This year’s event will begin with Progress and Plans: The Past And Upcoming 12 Months at ELSA, a keynote address from Corry Capital Advisors’ Founder and CEO Bill Corry, who is also ELSA’s current Chair, before moving on to a regular feature at the Secondary Life Markets Conference, the State of the Market panel, which will provide attendees with a helicopter view of the most pressing topics impacting the secondary life markets.
The second half of the morning will see the first presentation session at SLMC 24. Deal Flow Diaries: Challenges and Opportunities in Life Settlement Market Supply will see industry experts analysing the trends impacting the flow of policies to and through the secondary direct, secondary intermediated and tertiary markets in the life settlement industry, before the morning session concludes with The PHL Variable Rehabilitation Saga and Its Current and Potential Impact on the Life Settlement Market, a discussion panel which will address one of the life settlement’s most newsworthy developments thus far in 2024.
After lunch, the afternoon session begins with a fireside chat with Petra Dismorr of NorthPeak Advisory, who will discuss all things ESG in ESG: It’s Value Add, Misconceptions and Application to the World of Life Settlements, a fireside chat. The first half of the afternoon concludes with two breakout sessions; Life Settlements Litigation and Providing the Market with More LE Consistency, both of which are part panel, part workshop in which attendees can participate to a greater extent.
This year’s SLMC concludes with The ELSA | Conning Investor Survey, a presentation by Scott Hawkins of Conning, which has been commissioned by ELSA to survey institutional investors about their attitudes towards life settlements, and then wraps with a group industry discussion, Carriers: Can We be Better Friends? which asks exactly that.
“This year’s event provides an agenda that is both thought-provoking and insightful in equal measure,” said Chris Wells, Executive Director at ELSA. “I look forward to seeing attendees from both ELSA’s membership and the market more broadly in Stockholm in September as we, as an industry, look to navigate the challenges we face and take advantage of the opportunities before us.”
