Industry group the Life Insurance Settlement Association has elected Neal Jacobs, Senior Managing Director of Capital Markets at Coventry, as its new board Chair.
Jacobs succeeds John Dallas, CEO of Berkshire Settlements whose term as LISA Board Chair is expiring. Dallas will transition to the role of Immediate Past Chair and remain a member of LISA’s Executive Committee.
In addition to Jacobs’s election, two directors – Rob Haynie, Managing Director at Life Insurance Settlements and John Welcom, Founder and CEO at Welcome Funds – will serve a second three-year term. Chris Conway, Chief Development Officer at ISC Services will serve a second, abbreviated, two-year term and two new directors, Samantha Butcher, Vice President of Operations at Abacus Life and Courtney Wassef, Director of Compliance and Assistant General Counsel at Preston Ventures have been appointed to the Board.

They are all committed to advancing LISA’s efforts to promote the development, integrity, and reputation of the life settlement industry, and we are excited to work alongside them in the upcoming year,” said Bryan Nicholson, Executive Director at LISA.
Meanwhile, LISA awarded the 2024 Alan H. Buerger (AHB) Leadership Award to Haynie at its 30th Annual Life Settlement Conference in Miami on 24th October. Haynie has been in the life settlement industry for over 25 years, dating back to its roots in the viatical settlement market.
“Rob has been a pioneering leader in the life settlement industry for 25 years and his leadership has been key to shaping and strengthening the life settlement industry and LISA,” said John Dallas, LISA Board Chair and CEO of Berkshire Settlements.
“His influence extends beyond the association, making him a deserving recipient of this year’s Alan H. Buerger Leadership Award.”
The AHB Leadership award honours industry leaders who have made significant contributions to support the development and growth of LISA and the life settlement marketplace.
